The Reason I Create
The parts of me that are the most raw, real, without thought, perfection, or pretense— they are also the parts of me I am the most afraid to show, and simultaneously the most rewarded for showing.
I want to honor the parts of people that are the most vulnerable, and often go unseen, and undervalued. These are the parts that make us human. That remind us we are alive.
We are alive. And we are not alone.
We can all be messy, neurotic, ashamed, in love, rash, curious, brave, satisfied, ever-yearning. These are the parts of us I want us to extend love, and sight to.
There is choice in whether we see the world in harmony, or in collision. Without a grounded presence in our own lives, that choice in perspective is lost. Our viewfinders become clouded with chaos.
I aim to highlight and extend empathy to this volcanic chaos.
It is equally important to me to make work that imbues warmth, and reminds the viewer that life is a cyclical exchange of golden energy. In death, birth, and the rebirth that happens throughout our lives, we are united. When plants, animals, or people die, our essence feeds new life.
